Big Agnes Insulated Double Z Sleeping Pad - Navy Wide Long

Super warm, quilted pattern works better for me than the long "tubes" that run up these things usually.Thick enough to keep me off the roots and rocks.Packs down reasonably small. it's not going to be on anyone's list that is crazy into cutting weight. But....I don't mind carrying this thing in on a hike since it's so comfortable. I'm old. I NEED to sleep comfortably after the hike.I tried it in a hammock tent instead of an under-quilt and, after some position adjustment....worked great.that said..it was a pretty warm couple of nights. (like 50 degrees) but hanging all night in 50 degrees was super comfortable.haven't tried it any colder than that yet.and....admittedly...there was A LOT of position adjustment until I figured the best way for me. Key thing is in the hammock scenario, make sure the inflate valves are within easy reach. blow it WAY up, get in, and then start to let the air out for best results.

To be fair, I haven't used this product yet. I inflated it at home and laid down on it though and I can say it's thick, wide enough for a big guy like me. I'm a side sleeper and it was comfortable. I actually fell asleep on it. The things I cannot say, since I haven't been outdoors with it, is if it provides adequate insulation from the cold ground or attest to its durability. I will certainly update my review once I can speak with more authority. I'll be thru-hiking a segment of the Colorado Trail this summer. Oh, and it's somewhat heavier than most, but hopefully that's due to being a good insulator...we'll see.

Best air mattress ever. The reflective technology is so effective that it may make a hot summer night a bit uncomfortable. No detectable "heat sink" effect from the air mattress that I've felt in other air mattresses that just suck the heat right out of you on a cold night.

It was an older model and the valve did not match the inflation bag I'd bought, so it would have been too difficult to inflate. I returned it unused.

Although I love this mattress, beware of who you are purchasing a pad from. I had gone with the cheapest seller, upon arrival I see that the product had been made more than 15 months prior. It went flat within 1 hour without anybody on it. I have since ordered one directly from the MFG and love it.

used it this weekend camping, plenty long for me (i am 6'6") and very comfy. felt like i was on my mattress at home with the exception of if i turned over i had to re-position myself on the mat. i purchased it because it was an editors pick in backpacker magazine and now i can see why. not the smallest when its in the stuff sack but i will gladly give up a couple inches of room in my pack so i don't wake up with a bad back in the morning

I love Big Agnes! I use this in my amok hammock, a little under inflated and sleep so well. The insulating quality of this air mattress is outstanding. Sitting up in this Hammock is like being in my recliner at home. I would highly recommend this air mattress to anyone who needs insulation from the cold, anyone that wants a good night sleep on a very comfortable pad and anyone that gets a sore back when camping.I wish I had found big Agnes and Hammock camping a long time ago.
