Duke Athletic Supporter

I bought 3 different jock straps for my husband to try after his vasectomy: Under Armour  Under Armour Men's Performance Jockstrap with Cup Pocket, White/Silver, Large , a set of Papi's  Papi Men's 3-Pack Cotton Jock Strap ,White,Large , and a couple of these Dukes. All were purchased and fit well in size large, which is the size he normally wears in Hanes boxers.Of the three, my husband felt that the Under Armour jock was the best. The material is smooth/non-irritating and the support is great. He wore jockstraps for 3 weeks after his vasectomy, then he went back to his normal boxers. He alternated between the Duke and Under Armour jocks for the first 2 weeks, then switched to the Papi's for the third week.These Duke jocks offered great support just like the Under Armour, but the material is more of a waffle knit (as opposed to the smooth, more silky Under Armour fabric) and it tended to irritate his stitches. The Papi jocks were the least supportive, but they were useful during week 3 when he felt he didn't need all the support of the Under Armour/Dukes anymore, but wasn't quite ready to make the leap back to boxers just yet. By week 4 he was happily back to his good old boxers :)Summary:Under Armour: good support, good fabricDuke: good support, irritating fabricPapi: less support (but still more than boxers), good fabricA side note: we also purchased some Hanes boxer briefs just in case he ended up preferring those over the jocks, but he felt they offered no support at all and he never used them.Hope this helps any other guys out there getting ready for the snip! I had recently found and purchased a jockstrap made by another company (Goldberg). Although it is very comfortable and supportive, when I went back to purchase another one, they were out of stock in my size. Then, when it was finally back in stock, the price had almost doubled. So, I searched for another brand. I had read many of the thousands of reviews concerning the Duke and was apprehensive about purchasing one since they were equally negative and positive (since this jockstrap has been in production for many years, bad things can happen in the manufacturing process depending on where it is made, when it was made, and what materials are used). However, with the cost increase of the other brand, I decided to pull the trigger and get the Duke. It arrived as promised and I found it to be very well made. In addition, it is as comfortable and supportive as the Goldberg, maybe even more so, and at half the cost. Also, those guys that are well endowed, have large balls, or low hangers, will really appreciate that the pouch is wider and longer than other jockstraps I have owned. The product description said it was made in the USA but there is nothing on the tag or the packaging that states that. Since it fit right, that didn’t matter much to me. Regarding sizing, once again, I would go with one size larger. I am a 36” waist and chose the large which fit great. In reading the questions and comments, I found it quite humorous that many men do not know what a jockstrap is intended to be used for. You wear one if you doing any sort of strenuous activity such as exercising, running, lifting heavy objects, swimming (I wear one for working around the yard) or you have had recent hernia surgery or a vasectomy. Some may think of them as “sexy underwear” but its real purpose is to provide support plain and simple and that is why you need to find a good one such as the Duke. Finally, regarding the washing instructions, it says to never bleach, put in the dryer, or iron (not sure who would iron a jockstrap?). However, since the ones I buy are all white, I do bleach them and throw them in the dryer. Yes, it will take some life off of the elastic but I would rather purchase some new ones than to end up with a skin rash from improper cleaning. So, I give this jockstrap 2 thumbs up and will purchase more!

First I purchased the large since my waist is 38", and the large was so uncomfortably tight, I had to try cutting the elastic to reduce the pain when wearing. Then after giving away the 2 large size supporters, I purchased the Extra Large, and these are also way to tight on my 38" waist. The Duke pro company is producing a product that in no way will accommodate the size stipulated. If your a 38" like my I would only try an Extra Extra Large, since the company is skimping on elastic material at the expense of customer comfort. When I say tight, I mean tight enough to be so uncomfortable you can't wait to get them off. The company has to know the problem, but makes no effort to fix it. These need to be tested on real people!!

Being a size 30 waist, I ordered a small as a trial. I would absolutely recommend to anyone who appreciates a solid fit as the sizing chart did not let me down. The thicker waistband and larger pouch that come with this athletic jock offer exceptional comfort. Excess moisture has also not been an issue thus far and so I definitely plan to order a few more of these bad boys.

I had always loved the Bike Number 10 and it has since been discontinued. I was looking for a suitable replacement; some brands are way too fashion over form, others are overbuilt (UA) but this one was just right. I was very surprised at how comfortable it is; the material for your boys is soft right out of the package (most brands require a few washes before that happens) and most importantly for me is the perfect waistband. I could stand to lose a few pounds in my gut; and with the Bike brand the waistband will fold over but this one sits just right. The pouch itself is also very supportive-which is what a jockstrap is supposed to do. I got a screaming deal on mine and I will buy more. Plus this one is made here in the US!

I wear 44-46 underwear. According to the drop down box for choosing the size to order, the XL fits sizes 44-50, not a chance!!! First attempt to put it on, they ripped apart. See the attached picture.

The material seems decent and the delivery was scheduled on time
